How I Got Here
Experience…
My early adulthood was plagued by mysterious health struggles.
My daily experience was of extreme fatigue, weakness, dizziness, heart palpitations, brain fog, sweating, chills, depression, and more. Nothing was working right..
But as I did not have an easily identifiable “disease” to explain my symptoms, my attempts to receive care were poorly addressed, ignored, or even dismissed by the practitioners I consulted.
Besides getting few answers and little relief, I found much of the process dehumanizing, frustrating, and discouraging.
It just wasn’t working for me.
I realized I would need to figure it out on my own.
Having already been introduced to the intersecting world of Asian philosophy, meditation, martial arts, and aesthetics; I was easily drawn to the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I was attracted to the richness and depth of its theoretical and diagnostic systems, the emphasis on the patient’s inner landscape rather than ‘disease’, and the flexibility with which it could adapt to a patient’s individuality.
The language and perspective of Chinese Medicine was much more closely aligned to the way I actually felt, and how I experienced my health and my body day to day. It described the human body and its workings the way I felt them subjectively, rather than how they might look to a scientist through a microscope or on a lab test. The familiar outer world was reflected in the body, in its landscape, climate, and changing patterns of “weather”.
I immersed myself in Chinese language, clinical medicine, and health and longevity practices. travelling and studying in China. My path eventually led to completing a Master’s in Chinese Medicine, and continued learning with teachers in China and the U.S.
25+ years later, I am continuously fascinated by this rich, practical, and highly effective medicine tradition, and work to share its benefits with as many people as possible
When I’m Not in the Clinic
I am probably eating something, outside moving around, goofing around with my daughter, enjoying life with my sweetie, getting into music, writing a health related post, or getting bugs in my teeth on my Harley.
Looking forward to working with you!
